Sophie
is a pretty special giraffe. She's been made by the same family-run
company in a factory in the French Alps Since 1961 (I'm imagining
Oomplaloops in Heidi outfits). She's made of natural rubber, she
doesn't have scary chemicals and she's hand painted with food grade
dyes. Here's what the blurb says:
'Soft, light and easy to grasp, Sophie La Giraffe is perfect for little hands and makes a happy sound when squeezed. Babies especially love her bumpy head to sooth their teething gums.'
Sophie is the very first thing (aside from my hands) that Ted ever grabbed... and instantly put in his mouth. (Consults book... On May 25th!), and now that teething is starting to be an issue he gnaws on her rump ALOT.
I lived in France as a baby and had my very own Sophie, maybe 'cause of that I find her very distinctive smell comforting. Plus, when we were in France this June, Sophie was a good conversation starter, yep, she's an all 'round useful sort of girl.
