Hushabye Baby: Jonny Cash Lullabies

Recently, Wee Baby headquarters received a copy of Hushabye Baby's newest release: Hushabye Baby: Country Renditions of Johnny Cash. Back in September, DIY Maven wrote about lullaby renditions of Led Zepplin, and since then, the makers of the album have released a country line-up. The Johnny Cash lullaby album is pretty adorable. The renditions of some of his biggest hits are gentle - think soft percussion, a touch of pedal steel, and a soothing guitar....

Turn Baby Clothes into Sun Prints

Turning teeny-tiny outgrown-in-a-minute baby clothes into stunning art is simple enough--according to Martha--with the help light-sensitive paper. To make a print, just pin the clothing to the light-sensitive paper, cover it with Plexiglas and then expose it to sunlight for a minute or two. Remove the clothing and then rinse and dry the paper and frame.

Bathe your baby in a BUCKET??

Considering all large buckets have messages written on the sides warning that they can be the cause of accidental drowning, this WashPOD seems a bit counterintuitive; however, it is all the rage in Europe, apparently. ‘Shaped more vertically than horizontally, it safely holds your baby upright in the proper bathing position.’ An added benefit of the WashPod is it’s much smaller than traditional baby bathtubs, which means it takes up a fraction of the space,...

Family Trees - Keep Far Away Family Close

Last week as Ted ''talked' to his paternal grandparents on a video call, my sweetie worried quietly that he would think that his grandparents were tiny people whom we keep in a 'box' (meaning the computer screen) and only let out once a year. Bizarre but true. I think his real point was that Teddy is so far away from the rest of our family that they can seem really abstract. With that in mind...

Drool Tees

Perfect for the babe in that leaky stage, these tees have built-in bibs. The drool dabbers are actually the animals' floppy ears. Available in elephant and pig, the tees from Spoon Sisters are a little spendy at $32 each; however, I'm thinking a bit of applique using some fine terry, and you could have a half dozen for the same price.

Hospital Apparel for New Mamas

There are some beautiful hospital gowns out there designed for mothers who are looking for a more comfortable and stylish alternative to the traditional hospital gown. However, if I've learned anything from my prenatal classes it's that the big day is a big mess. Therefore, I plan to stick with the traditional hospital gown for the birthing process. Although I love the thought of being comfortable and cute as we bring our little wonder into...

Hold My Hand Mittens

There's something about these mittens built for two that puts a lump in my throat, maybe it's because the simple act of holding hands can be so comforting and nice. Or maybe the difference in the sizes of paws is a subtle reminder or the fleeting nature of childhood or maybe it's how they would be a lovely reminder of your little person if you were wearing them solo... I dunno, I just love them....

Parenting Magazines... Meh.

I don't know how it happened... I used to practically instinctively pick up a copy of Vogue or Glamour or Vanity Fair; glossy pages, pretty things and advertising for shoes I can't afford... what's not to love? But at some point I found myself staring at the shiny-skinny-girl covers in Chapters and practically hollering "Glamour? GLAMOUR? I have poop on my shirt. Don't talk to me about Glamour." And thus entered the realm of the...

How to Baby-fy a Doorbell

Doorbells. They freak out cats and wake up babies. Whether you wind up with a shivering feline or a wailing wee one (or both), here's a great method of dulling that ding-dong. According to the instructor on Instructables, the procedure is easy enough. First, locate your doorbell. Lift off the cover of the doorbell. Go to your refrigerator and find a couple of magnets of the 'business card' variety that will fit inside the doorbell...

Sweet Baby Hoodie Crochet-Along: FINITO!

Last week we finished the hoodie part (pictured above) of our baby hoodie, which means this week we finish our sweet little project. Linda at CraftStylish wraps things up with details on how to sew--or join--our pieces together as well as adding the contrasting trim. When joining pieces of a garment together, I almost always use a mattress stitch. Also, for sewing on buttons you might want to check out this very informative post, also on CraftStylish. Well, here it...

Nursery Art - Just Edgy Enough

When it comes to nursery art the line between cute and cutesy can be a fine one, which is something you just don't have to worry about with Jennifer Davis's paintings and collages. Her work has gorgeous, joyous colours and richly intricate details that are enough to catch and hold the attention of even tiny folks; but their slightly edgy creatures, witty and delicious subject matter and collage layouts will still be interesting and relevant...
